The two channels
Every alert type can be turned on or off independently for two channels: in-app (the notification bell) and email. Turning both off for a type means nothing is recorded for it at all; turning off just the bell while keeping email on still records it, so it’s there for your email digest without ever badging the bell.
What Tavera Money can tell you about
- Category approaching or over plan — a heads-up as a budget category passes 80%, 90% and 100% of what you planned, once per threshold per category per month.
- Month recap ready — when a closed month’s recap is waiting to be reviewed.
- Large expense — a single expense above an amount you set.
- Money came in — income landing in one of your accounts.
- Household activity — someone joining or leaving your household.
- Bank connection needs attention — a linked institution needs reconnecting so its transactions keep syncing (see Accounts & bank linking).
Large-expense and income thresholds are personal, not shared — in a household where two people have set different limits, the same transaction can be worth alerting one person about and not the other, and each person’s alerts are evaluated against their own setting.
No duplicates
Every alert carries an identity naming the specific thing it’s about, so re-checking the same state — which happens constantly as the app re-evaluates things in the background — never produces a second copy of an alert you’ve already gotten. A bank-reconnect alert, for instance, fires at most once a month for the same broken connection rather than repeating every time something touches it, while a connection left broken for a long stretch still gets brought back to your attention occasionally rather than going silent forever.
Email delivery
Email alerts are never sent while you’re actively using the app — they’re queued and delivered on their own schedule, so nothing about loading a page ever waits on an email being sent.
