Terms of Service

Last updated 10 August 2026

The short version

Use Tavera Money for your own budgeting, keep your login to yourself, and pay for a paid plan if you choose one. We are a budgeting tool, not a financial adviser, and the numbers we show are only as good as the data behind them. You can cancel any time and take your data with you.

These terms are an agreement between you and Tavera Money ("we", "us") covering the website at taveramoney.com and the application at app.taveramoney.com(together, the "Service"). By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • Provide accurate information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
  • One account per person. Do not share login credentials — use household invitations instead.

2. Households and shared data

Tavera Money lets you share a household with other people. You should understand clearly what that means before you invite someone:

  • Every member of a household can see all of that household's accounts, transactions, budgets, goals and debts.
  • Members can edit the transactions they created. The household owner manages invitations and membership.
  • If you leave a household, the data you brought with you leaves with you and you are placed in a new personal household.
  • Only invite people you intend to share your complete financial picture with. We cannot un-share information that a household member has already seen.

3. Plans, billing and cancellation

  • Basic is free and has no time limit. Plus and Premium are paid subscriptions, billed monthly or annually in advance, in US dollars.
  • A subscription belongs to a household, not to an individual. One subscription covers every member, and plan limits apply to the household's combined usage.
  • Renewal is automatic until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing; your plan continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. If your new plan supports fewer bank connections than you have linked, connections above the limit will be disconnected. We tell you which ones before you confirm, and you keep the imported data unless you choose to delete it.
  • Refunds are not offered for partial periods, but if something has gone wrong, email us — we would rather sort it out than stand behind this sentence.
  • Price changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before they affect you, and you may cancel before they take effect.
  • Failed payments — if a payment fails we will retry and let you know. If it remains unpaid, the household is moved to the free Basic plan. Your data is not deleted.

4. Bank connections

Bank connections are provided through Plaid. By linking a bank you authorise us to retrieve account and transaction information through Plaid on your behalf, and you agree to Plaid's own terms. This access is read-only. Tavera Money cannot move money.

Bank data is provided by your institution through Plaid and may be delayed, incomplete or occasionally incorrect. Syncing happens when you ask for it rather than continuously. Always treat your bank's own records as authoritative.

5. What Tavera Money is not

Tavera Money is a budgeting tool. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and we are not a bank, a broker or a financial adviser.Projections, payoff plans, spending pace, recaps and coaching messages are calculations based on the data in your account and simplifying assumptions — for example, debt projections apply your stated APR monthly and assume payments are made as planned. Real outcomes will differ. Decisions you make about your money are yours, and for anything significant you should talk to a qualified professional.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully, or to store data you have no right to;
  • attempt to access another user's or household's data, or probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission;
  • scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
  • place unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or interfere with anyone else's use of it.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

7. Your data and content

You keep ownership of everything you put into Tavera Money. You grant us only the licence needed to store, process and display it back to you and to your household — nothing more. We do not sell or share it; see our Privacy Policy.

You can export your transactions and balance history as CSV at any time, including on the free plan.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may need to take it down for maintenance. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue the Service or a material part of it, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your data.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, or if we are required to by law. Sections 5, 7, 9 and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction — except that either of us may seek injunctive relief in any appropriate court, and nothing here removes any consumer protection right you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date at the top of this page and notify account holders by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Tavera Money afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
